Why you all should own a
print by Shepard Fairey

You know Shepard Fairey's work- he's the artist who did the HOPE Obama poster, but before that, Fairey was doing street art around Boston and NYC as well as other cities around the world. The whole concept of making an image and making it "art" redefines the notion of what art is. Is it art just because an artist has elevated a mundane image and chosen to create a series of paintings, prints, stickers, etc.? The answer is, well, yes. At least if you believe it is...

I like checking out weekly the newest prints/ posters he has for offer on his website www.obeygiant.com. He had a really cool portrait of artist Jasper Johns that is simply fabulous, and a now sold-out Haiti benefit print that was also really amazing. It's affordable art, too, and I've now bought three of his prints. Not because they'll probably go up in value (which they will) but because they're really cool images!

Well, that's my two cents anyways.
